JMU Dukes NCAA Tourney Update

Mar 23, 2014, 11:05 AM EST

The 11th-seeded Dukes of James Madison are ready to do battle versus sixth-seeded Gonzaga on Sunday night in the first round of the 2014 Women’s Basketball NCAA Tournament.

Before the Dukes, who sit a 28-5 on the season and won the regular and championship title in the CAA, square off versus the Zags, take a quick look back to Friday when the team left Harrisonburg, Va. JMU set up a send-off for the squad, which spectators and fans alike sent the Dukes to Texas in style. Check out a photo gallery from the event.

Also, one of our favorite tweets/instagram’s from the action …

The Dukes arrived safely in Texas and soon settled in at Reed Arena on the campus of the Texas A&M for practices and a press conference.

Check out the transcript from Saturday’s press conference, as head coach Kenny Brooks, alongside seniors Kirby Burkholder and Nikki Newman, fielded questions from the local and national media. There’s also a full audio replay of the press conference.

Fans can stay up on the Dukes’ action leading up to the contest, which can be seen tonight at 5:30 on ESPN3.com, by following the team’s twitter account (@JMUWBasketball) and checking out A&M’s awesome NCAA Central Page with all the links you could ever ask for in terms of audio, live stats and game notes.

It’s finally gameday, and the Dukes look ready!
