Overtime Win = VP Tweet

Jan 3, 2013, 4:11 PM EDT

Last night the Delaware Blue Hens took St. John’s, which is receiving votes in one of the most recent polls, to overtime to capture a 60-59 win at the Carnesecca Arena. Elena Delle Donne, who hit two free throws with 20 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, hit the game-winner with under a second left to play in overtime to send the Hens to a thrilling win. The senior, who was held to just six points in the first half, scored a game-high 29 points while converting all 13 of her free throw attempts. The All-American also snatched a game-high 16 rebounds and lead Delaware (9-3) to its fourth straight victory and third in five days. She was also named CAA Player of the Week on Dec. 31.

Delle Donne (@De11eDonne) has received quite a bit of attention throughout her career, but after last night’s overtime win the senior received a personal mention by the United States of America’s Vice President Joe Biden via twitter. How would you feel if you just received a mention from the nation’s vice president?!?
