Mar 6, 2012, 11:03 PM EDT

No. 7 George Mason (10-20) vs. No. 10 Northeastern (8-21)

When: 5 p.m. Thursday

A look at the Patriots

Players to watch: Sr. Taleia Moton 20.7 ppg; league-leading 36.7 mpg; Jr. Amber Easter 11.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg

Signature win: at VCU (Senior Day) 69-59 (Feb. 26)

Loss to forget: Norfolk State, 60-57 (Jan. 2)

Last 10:  5-5

Scouting the Patriots:

Moton has emerged as one of the premier plays in the league, topping 30 or more points six times this season. The senior ranks third in the league in scoring behind Elena Delle Donne and Courtney Hurt. The Patriots ended the season dropping four of six, but three of the losses came to Delaware, JMU and Hofstra. Moton scored 37 in the Patriots’ two games against Northeastern this series; Mason split the series.

Fun fact: Amber Easter describes herself as a band geek in high school, when she played xylophone, bells and marimba.

No. 10 Northeastern

Players to watch: Jr. Deanna Kerkhof 14.8 ppg; So. Jewel Tunstull 13 ppg, .594 FG percentage

Signature win: James Madison 61-50 (Feb. 19)

Loss to forget: Kentucky, 81-47 (Nov. 17)

Last 10: 4-6

Scouting the Huskies: Maybe you wrote this Northeastern team off weeks ago, but the fact is the Huskies are among the hottest teams in the field. Northeastern has gone 4-1 in its last five games, which includes a nine-point victory over James Madison and an 18-point rout of Hofstra. The lone loss came to top seed Delaware. Northeastern split its series with George Mason, with each team winning on its home court. Jewel Tunstull is the most reliable shooter in the league, behind a CAA-best .594 field-goal percentage. Senior Jamie Conroy holds the school record for assists. If the Huskies survive the first round, they could meet JMU, a team they held to 50 points – Northeastern’s best defensive effort of the season.

Fun fact: Christine Huber, a transfer from Rutgers, was rated the 13th best forward coming out of high school by ESPN’s HoopGurlz.
