Miss you, girl!

Oct 18, 2011, 2:40 PM EDT

Can’t blame Shante Evans for not being in practice this week. The 6-foot junior is with USA Basketball in prep for the Pan American Games, which means she’s not due back until Oct. 26.

“We miss her,” said Pride coach Krista Kilburn-Steveskey, but honesty — “Practice is going great!”

“It’s a different feel this year, kind of like my first year,” she said. “The seniors have handled any nonsense. It’s been awesome. The other day, I had to just stay, ‘Stop!’ They were going so hard they were mentally drained.”

Can’t wait to see: 5-4 freshman guard Andreana Thomas, who Kilburn-Stevesky doesn’t doubt will be “one of the mentally toughest kids I’ve ever coached.”
