5 questions with Drexel’s Jasmina Rosseel

Mar 11, 2011, 2:51 AM EDT

The Dragons senior who hails from Ieper, Belgium was the CAA fans favorite player in online voting.

1. The fans love you. That must feel pretty good. “I was really surprised by it. It’s really an honor, especially being foreign.”

2. What do you miss the most about home? “Of course, my family and the food. That’s a big one. There are so many bakeries at home — fresh bread every morning. When I go home, I have my whole menu planned out for weeks.”

3. What do you like about this country that you didn’t anticipate? “Honestly, the people. I think the people are great and they’ve been so welcoming to me. Every year I get invited to somebody’s home for Thanksgiving. My mom came to visit me and said, ‘You know everybody here!’ “

4. You were part of the team two years ago that was the first to beat Old Dominion in this tournament in 17 years. Do you come into your final CAA Tournament still remembering that? “That’s one of my best memories. There was just so much that year. We won the championship, ended their streak, went to the (NCAA) Tournament. That’s up there with my best memories ever — even over my national team.

5. Hobby on the side? “I love to read. It’s cheesy, but I like romantic comedies. Love stories. I liked ‘Dear John,’ the book more than the movie.”

One more…..

6. Push shuffle on your iPod and what comes up? “Coldplay. I’m from Europe, you know.”
